Things are now reaching breaking point at Goodison
Two weeks ago Bill Kenwright told the Turkish media that Everton and Fenerbahce were just days away from agreeing a deal for Joseph Yobo…guess who’s back at Everton?
According to the Echo Yobo has made a ‘surprise return’ to Finch Farm – but is anyone really surprised that he’s back?
And did anyone actually believe Kenwright’s assertion that a deal was imminent?
Obviously this now means that David Moyes has no money whatsoever to spend on transfers as the club have made no secret of the fact that they needed to sell both Yobo and Yakubu to fund any transfers.
Which really is no way to do business.
Is it any wonder that Fenerbahce were holding out for a massively knocked down price for Yobo given that the player knows he is not wanted and they know we desperately need the money?
And how does this make the players feel?
Are either Yobo or Yakubu really going to be bothered knowing that the club are desperate to offload them? You would like to think that their professionalism would mean that they are bothered about playing for the club but if any of us found ourselves in that position at work would we pull our weight knowing that our employer wanted us out?!
Things are now reaching breaking point at Everton.
Last season everyone was willing to accept that the priority was to tie our players into long term deals, keep what we’ve got and go into the season with a full squad that we all thought could do a job against anybody.
We got the first part right but the season fell woefully short of expectations, even though our seventh placed finish would have seen us qualify for Europe in most other seasons and the teams we eventually finished behind were the six teams we’d possibly expect to be ahead of us!
This summer should have been about adding to squad, particularly after our almost suicidal shedding of players in January that saw us playing most of the last half of the season with no experienced forwards on the pitch.
There is growing discontent amongst Evertonians – some are asking for fans to be more proactive whilst others feel that we’d just be embarrassing ourselves like ‘that lot across the park’.
Although we’d all be loathe to admit it their, admittedly toe-curling, fan groups did get the ball rolling and did get the media onside, the issue was forced and their was a change at the top.
They’ve not looked back since.
We have been accepting of the club’s sell-to-buy policy for years now as we’ve not wanted our club to get bogged down with massive debts but even this has reached breaking point with fans as we are now selling players and the money is seemingly disappearing. For instance, since January we have brought in around £6 million through the sales of Steven Pienaar and James Vaughan yet we still have no transfer funds available?
How is this possible and how long can those in charge at the club go unchallenged?
Unfortunately it looks like we’re going to have a job on our hands even getting the local press onside if this terrible piece by the usually excellent Dave Prentice is anything to go by.
It appears that the local media are still reeling from Everton’s decision to ban them from Goodison last season.
But that, along with the scrapping of the EGM and AGM tells you all you need to know about those in charge of the club, they have lost the plot and have locked themselves in their ivory tower.
I’m never usually a fan of Facebook and Twitter protests – there’s no element of getting your hands dirty, like those idiots that arrange pre-match fights online – but it seems like it’s the accepted starting point for calls to action these days.
So if anyone actually reads this then can I recommend that you follow @SOS1878, @JoeJennings9, @ThePeoplesGroup on Twitter.
Christ! I was only writing about Yobo coming back to the club…

We’re stuck with Yobo & Yakubu who combined earn over 100k per week. Should have just bitten the Turks hand off at 3m.
“I think a result can be achieved in a few days … I have had no other bids.”
Thanks Bill.
Bungling Bill has been proving for years he’s got the midas touch in reverse and the Yobo affair has proved it again. He should just shut the fuck up.
I loathe the man and can’t wait for the day this egotistical prick leaves our club and takes his yes men Earl,Woods,Elstone and Ian Ross with him.
Whilst I agree to a point the fact that the fenerbache board have been arrested for match fixing may have something to do with this
Erm, Fener are embroiled in a match fixing scandal. If found guilty, the possible penalties include being kicked out the Champions League (the expected windfall from which was maybe funding the Yobo deal) and relegated to the Turkish 2nd division.
I imagine the stalling is being done by them as they await their fate before committing to a moderately pricey transfer.
Bill’s not to blame for the delay. Though, I completely don’t understand the logic in him publicly stating that no other teams are sniffing around Yobo. How does that help us as the selling party?
@ Lee – Huyton. I think the word you are looking for is “Sidam” as in “Sidam Touch” meaning everything he touches turns to shit, quite appropriate really in Blue Bill’s case!
Like the article though and I think things are starting to take shape in the war against the board, all of these supporter groups seem to grouping together for a common cause, which is the only way this is going to work, i do wonder what will be if Bill leaves…..who will take over?
I can’t think of any Evertonian with as much money as Bill who would be stupid enough to just piss their money down the pan because in reality there isnt a chairman in England that is making money on a Prem club so thats just what they would be doing.
The world is awash with Arab gold but why are they going to want to spend it in the arse end of Liverpool?
Check Yobo’s agent comments this morning. Delay has nothing to do with Everton, all to do with the Fener turmoil. They hope to conclude the transfer when the director returns from his court appearance. Once again, a nothing story twisted to stick the knife in. BK’s comments were before the scandal came to light, what is he supposed to do? Pathetic again.
Well said john. All the haters are constantly looking for somewhere to stick the knife in. I’m sure this site is run by kopites. Breaking point, my arse!! I love this club. I’m happy with what the board are doing. I’d love to see instant success, but I’m realistic…we have to be patient.
Fans at every other club crave the same success that we do. Do they start all kinds of stupid little clubs like ‘Evertonians for change’ etc? Only one club I’ve seen do that that and they made cnuts of themselves…and that was that shower across the park.
I’m glad most of the Blues I talk to don’t agree with the kind of sh*te written in this article.
Get behind your club lads…whichever club that is…doubt it’s Everton!! COYB!!!
Big Dunc you must know some weapons who are Everton fans like yourself , when clubs who take 350 fans to places we take 3,500 too are outspending us every season you know your chairman is a fraud , every single thing the man has tried to do he’s failed at , you should be an Oldham fan , you have the ambition of a green ant
Okay Big Dunc’s Nightmare – apart from questioning other Evertonian’s credentials – aren’t we all supposed to support the same club? – what exactly do you suggest to do?
The current campaign of Twitter-bombing the media is achieving naff-all. There’s been very little national coverage, apart from one Bascombe column in a now defunct paper.
Today’s coverage on Talksport was awful – sensationalistic, totally missing the point, asking how long Moyes will stay at Everton…. these aren’t the questions that should be being asked!
It’s clear as day the national media could not give a shit about Everton. The only Everton story they are interested in is Moyes leaving and Everton being in turmoil. They want us to be the next club to go down, not to be the next club to get Man City investment. They have no interest in drumming up interest in a club that could adversely affect their own London darling clubs like Spurs or Arsenal. Kenwright is a beloved luvvie. Pleading with people to investigate him isn’t going to work at all.
The Evertonian ‘activists’ should be focusing on:
a) Uniting all the splinter Evertonian groups – ‘The Peoples Group’, ‘Evertonians for Change’ etc. all into one group under one name to focus on the real issue at hand. I hate to bring up the RS, but there was only one ‘Spirit of Shankly Group’ – there wasn’t tons of other groups like ‘Yanks Out’, ‘Kopites for Change’, and ‘Annie Road End Revolutionaries’.
b) Organising a proper protest for the first home game of the season vs QPR. A well publicised march to the ground from the city centre. You can’t want an RS style revolution unless you use their tactics.
c) A well publicised sit in for 10-15 minutes after the match vs QPR.
d) NARROW DOWN AND PUBLICISE YOUR ACTUAL AIMS AND OBJECTIVES! Somebody needs to write down, in like 5 bullet points or less, what exactly we want AND WHY, i.e.
- We want Bill Kenwright to appoint a new independent company to search for investment and/or a buyer into Everton Football Club.
- We want Bill Kenwright to publicise exactly how much (or in what region) he wants for his stake in the club.
There should be the appointment of ONE spokesperson for the group. Everyone took the piss out of James ‘Liverpool Football Club’ McKenna, but at least he was well known and identified with a cause.
These are the things that should be getting done now. Not tweeting journos who don’t give a shit. Hell, you’d be better off tweeting random rich people who might buy us than that. Not that I’d recommend that either.
I stood in dogshit on the way to a match last season. Was that Kenwright’s fault?
YoungWilsonBall.
You certainly talk a lot of ‘dogshit’ having seen your excuse for posts on various Everton fansites.
KENSHITE OUT.
Let me get something clear, i am most certainly not a fan of Kenwright and ii believe he ia killing our club.
However, what i will say is that he never actually said the Yobo deal was days away. It was that joke of a website nsno.co.uk that first claimed he said it without actually directly quoting him. Then loads of other sites picked up on it. The power of the internet.
He is not talking to the media at the moment as he has learned frlm his miatakes of saying stypid things. Also, why would he say this when a) Fenerbache are miles away from agreed fee and 2) their chairman is up on corruption charges.
I’ll all for slating kenwright but not for bullshit that was startes by a shite tittle tattle website.
Big dunc and john, what a pair of brown nosing whoppers you are!! clowns like you 2 meekly accepting mediocrity are part of the reason this fucking incompetent phoney is getting away with murder!!!!
I don’t want to accept mediocrity Tony, but our chairman is Bill Kenwright, not Paul fuckin Daniels. He took over a pile of shite and put us where we are today…which I agree isn’t good enough, but it’s an improvement. We have a good squad, albeit on the small side. There is a good team spirit. Teams don’t fancy playing us. The pundits all fancy us to do well. The players have nothing but positives to say about the management and board. The majority of the fans back the club to the hilt. Why do blurts like you, and my so called nightmare, think you know it all? Have you run a multi-million pound business? Don’t make me laugh!! You’ve had a game of Championship Manager on your computer, bought Messi for Everton and won the Champions League…now you’re wondering why Blue Bill can’t do it…stay of the weed lad, it messes with your head.
Unless we have a billionaire investor, we have to be patient. Even if we get said investor we can’t guarantee that we’ll win everything…or anything…look at Chelski last year for fucks sake!
Nil Satis Nisi Optimum is our motto…I’ve got it tattooed on my arm. I try to live my life by it…but sometimes I can’t because I have to be realistic. You should try it sometime. COYB! ETID!
Big dunc, the players have nothing to say but positives about the board? well they are hardly fucking likely to say otherwise are they? and i dont have run a million pound business to know a bullshitter when i see one! how do you know the MAJORITY of fans back the club to the hilt?? fucking counted them have you? maybe if you crawled back down out of Kenwrights arse you would see what the rest of us see you tool!
Tony me arl mucker, having a bit of lolly doesn’t guarantee instant success…just like being able to write doesn’t mean you’ve got any nouse, as you’ve demonstrated you blurt!
Every day, another artical !!!.
Bored now, bored of this farting around, blaming “them” and then “slagging each other off”.
Bored now, bored of the same old transfer window tedium.
Bored now, bored there is no decent premierleague matches with the mighty or at least once mighty Everton playing – to be honest, dont care, as long as they are playing.
For me – let it be – again we have showed less than the business acriment I would wish, less than the transfers I would wish. But please bring my team back on the screen and back playing.
As for now, it’s a fuck up, but will be arguing like this if we do have a good year – we all want transfers, but have we actually asked why ???? OK last year, if we had a couple more decent strikers – where could we have finished.
Saha and Gyeye – fit and scoring ???????
and do we want to replace the rest of the squad or squander money (100 mill like King Dick at RS ??) – for what purpose.
Bring on the new season – if we fuck up, I promise, I will lead the whole groupof supporter clubs (united) and give Billy Boy the chop.
Until then, keep the faith and stop the fuck winging like the cnuts across the park
Well said Eversteve. BK out???? WTF – You must be out of your fucking minds …. if it wasnt for BK and DM we’d be playing non league football by now – how they’ve done what they’ve done is nothing short of a miracle. You sound like the same tosspots that will be calling for DM’s head if we happen to loose away at Man U. Either get behind the team or if your that desperate for immediate success then fuck off and suppoort Man City instead – they’ll have you.
