Why young Evertonians are key to tackling Kenwright regime

It’s quite sad to contemplate Evertonians currently aged 20 and below enthusing the next generation of young Blues with tales of the ‘glory’ days when we got to an FA Cup Final and qualified for Europe a couple of times when they themselves hit 40.

If you’ve got youngsters in your family whose football loyalties are still to be decided, do them a massive favour and DO NOT introduce them to Everton.

Through no fault of their own, most young Blues have been brought up to believe that top seven finishes constitute success for Everton Football Club.

As pressure begins to mount at Smoke and Mirrors FC, and Bill Kenwright’s position as chairman comes under close scrutiny, the younger generation must somehow overcome popular belief that Bill Kenwright is a ‘true blue’ that ‘saved the club’.

If they won’t make a stand, those who do want to need to start voicing dissaproval with banners around the ground on matchdays.

This does one of two things. It highlights the anger and contempt amongst us for the board and chairman to the media and the surrounding supporters who view banners, whether that be via the TV, newspapers or at Goodison.

Secondly, once the awareness is raised the younger generation may grasp this and hopefully go along with what seems to be an ever growing support to rid our club of these idiots who are settling for us being mediocre/average/mismanaged/also-rans (delete as appropiate) and from here we can then start making more and more noise (ala Mr Park Foods) to the point were the heat on Bill Kenwright is white hot.

I sense we are witnessing a wholesale shift in both the fanbase and media concerning Kenwright and Co. We must capitalise on it.

    Then………

Kenwright goes, we get buoght by the richest Arab in the world and go on to win 17 titles and 9 FA cups plus the European CL – all in the next 20 years…………….

    Dream on Sunshine, dream on………….

    What a pointless article.

    We are where we are.

When John Moores owned us we were the Chelsea of the time….’The Mersey Millionaires’.

Sadly, John bacame ill, and his family couldn’t decide how to take over the reigns. His bastard offspring sold the family shares (to invest in Liverpool) to Johnson. He nearly sent us into administration.

Bill Kenwright managed, by mortgaging his entire life and soul, to rescue us from the abiss to buy the Club from Johnson. The fact that we are still in existence is down to BK’s wheeling and dealing with banks and any other parties he can bring on board pending some genuine high power investement coming in.

It’s so easy to be shortsighted and to dismiss the facts of history or reinterpret them. BK has moved this club on. Before him our biggest signing was Nick Barmby! He has broken our transfer record Fellaini (15m?) the wage structure Arteta (75K pw) kept his belief in DM when all around us the insanity of the Premier league has seen most of our rivals (just take a walk across the park) submit to massive debt, sackings and instability beyond belief.

They have wasted millions they don’t have to achieve nothing at all. So I subscribe to the fact Everton are in a strong position and are being run by an Evertonian. The day the club sells its soul to a bunch of Arabs, Yanks, Indians, businessmen or hedge fund idiots is the day I hang up my scarf. It does seem however that some of you would rather take the debt/corrupt money and run. Fools.

  3. Carl Cole says:

Blue blood running the club or risk a Hicks type coming in!

  4. Lee, Huyton says:

    Andy.

How can you attack Johnson when Kenwright was very much part of Peter Johnson’s board? This seems conveiniantly forgotten by the ‘supporters’ of BK. He was very much involved with desicion making during that era under PJ.

As for BK ‘rescuing us’. Don’t make me laugh. The massive list of mess ups he’s got on his list means he’s hardly ‘rescued us’. He’s been a hinderance to this club.

I see you’ve trotted out the tired old ‘he’s an Evertonian’ line. So fucking what? When he goes do we just get some random blue out of the Gwladys Street to replace him and put them in charge of the club because ‘they are a blue.

    BD

Easy to be cynical, but the current situation is untenable and a change is required.

  6. Gareth Fieldstead says:

Wow Andy, school of history as taught by the Labour party? Pending some genuine high powered investment, what like Fortress and NTL? We are still waiting for genuine investment 11 years after this pratt took over. As for Johnson are you suggesting that Kenwright hasn’t got us in even more debt? Fellaini? Again it only took place because Johnson and McFadden were sold. Moyes has not had a penny to spend since the beginning of the 07 08 season, without selling first and even that money was dubious. Once again he has managed to balls up the sale of a player to raise funds because the club concerned didnt meet our asking price, hence no funds for Moyes and we are stuck with an unwanted playeron a long contract, ditto Yakubu. No mention of funds raised from the sale of Peinnar and Vaughn nor Bellefield. No mention of the Kitbag or Chang deals that has supposedly netted the club a further 7 million nor the increased revenue from Skys overseas rights which every club in the premiership got 2 million for. The supposed retail and commercial units at the back of the Park End has been called off indefinitely and lets not even discuss the Kings Dock and Kirkby fiascos, yet we still have people willing to defend him because he is a blue? Unbelievable.

Pini, Lee, David, Gareth (and any other nausious Tofeeweb type contributors “mobilising” for a headline grabbing “campaign against the EFC Board”) you are entitled to your opinion about Kenwright, and you are entitled to flood various websites with such opinions – it does you some credit that you are not apathetic.

However, you are NOT entitled, without proof, and without contradiction, to spew out the lies and spin that you represent “the majority” of Evertonians.

I GUARANTEE that if any of your disrespectful scarves or banners appear anywhere within the area of the ground in which I and my family have season tickets, the VAST majority of the people sitting there will tell you where you can stick them. I only hope that, in that eventuality, your cronies will abide by the true majority feeling and put the nonsense away, and just join the rest of us in getting behing the Team, the Manager, and the Club.

  8. David O'Keefe says:

“However, you are NOT entitled, without proof, and without contradiction, to spew out the lies and spin that you represent “the majority” of Evertonians.”

Nobody has made that claim except you, Andy.

“I GUARANTEE that if any of your disrespectful scarves or banners appear anywhere within the area of the ground in which I and my family have season tickets, the VAST majority of the people sitting there will tell you where you can stick them. I only hope that, in that eventuality, your cronies will abide by the true majority feeling and put the nonsense away, and just join the rest of us in getting behing the Team, the Manager, and the Club.”

I gaurantee that you can’t prove any of that at all. What I find funny is that your claiming that myself and some other people don’t represent the majority, but apparently you and your family do? Fucking hell! I just hope the majority of blues aren’t as stupid as you. This has to be the most idiotic post on sos1878 ever, did you not think to read it back before clicking add reply?

  9. Lee, Huyton says:

    andy mac.

How do you know what the ‘majority’ of blues feel? Done a survey?
How do you know how people who sit anywere near you would react to anti-board banners? Been in contact with them all today?

The biggest and most well-known blues fansite have done a survey and up to now a massive 92 per cent are against the board.

    Says it all doesn’t it?

I will join you in supporting the team and a the manager come August the 13th but it doesn’t mean i have to say nothing against a shit board and shit chairman who continue to do nothing for our club.

  10. Taxi for Kenwright says:

What a beaut we have in this andy mac bloke. His attitude is “oh look at me,because i’m more than happy to treated with contempt by our chairman so i’m a much better fan than you”.

    Get over yourself.

  11. Jay says:

    @Andy well said, lad.

  12. Sean says:

There are some very valid points on this post but the article itself is absolutely ridiculous. Baseless bollocks. You are advocating protesting support as being the only way out of this mess. What are you trying to achieve by this? Coz it won’t make any difference to who runs the club. It will just continue the worrying trend that has engulfed our club, and that is that our support have no patience any more and you can see it every Saturday when the team’s form dips for any period in the game. We get on the players back and the tension at the ground is palpable. We all need to get a grip. Promoting young fans to protest is nothing short of lunacy. An the author of this article needs to grow up and think of something constructive to say, instead of insisting that young evertonians say it for him. Wanker!

  13. Bill Kenwrong says:

Well, having lost all faith, expectation and ambition in the ability for this club to move us forward I am caught in a quandry. Do I believe that the board has no money? Do I believe the hype that every penny earned has been reinvested into the team? Do I believe that DM is content knowing that he has less than rushden and diamonds to spend in the transfer window? If it is true then I should do all I can to help. I should be out there buying a new shirt. Then the age old question, which of the big name signings do I have emblazoned on the back? I should be full of optimism, knowing that our spirited charges will battle week in week out knowing they are fighting for our love and admiration.

Sadly I remember last year all too well. When the going got tough the team spirit jogged on. Our ‘big’ players played out of their skins in the ‘big’ games. This I can only put down to finding that ‘dream’ move away from the turmoil. The fringe players played some excellent stuff when they knew the ‘big’ players would be out for a while. It was their time to shine and get playing time. No pressure, they know they’re out of the starting line up as soon as t’others are fit!

Bill Kenwright has served up a treat at Goodison, not only has he devalued our club to it’s lowest point in years. (I would be interested in knowing just how much he wants for the club as I haven’t seen the figure being banded about anywhere, although I do remember seeing figures linked with the for sales boards at Anfield and St James’ Park) I have ZERO ambition as a fan, I couldn’t be arsed if we do buy anyone. I am not interested in looking at the fixture list. I can’t see me wanting to make the journey from London to see my ‘TRUE LOVE’ for special days out. I hope it doesn’t happen but don’t think it will be too long before Moyes has enough of it. Will I be buying my 9 year old a kit? No!

Now it pains me to say it but Kenwright has actually got me thinking that following EFC is a wrong choice in life when it’s all I’ve known for 30 years! Dare I say it, I am almost embarrassed to say I support EFC in public. Not for years have I had to suffer the pitiful looks from other people when I respond to the question, “So who do you support?” At least then I had a youthful optimism that one day we would be kings!

Thanks Bill! Oh and by the way if you have the balls to tell me how much you want for the club then I will do all I can to raise the money!!!

  14. BD says:

    @ David O’Keefe

Easy to highlight problems, not so easy to find answers is it?

That was my point, if you’d bothered to look beyond the ‘cynical’ viewpoint. All I ever hear is ‘BK is a c*nt/idiot/crook’ (delete as applic) but not one person seems to have a viable answer as to what happens when you get shut of BK. I don’t see no John Henry or whatever the Redshite owner is called falling over themselves to buy EFC. Do you? If so present them to us all. Enlighten us please. Fuck do we need some cheering up after all…..

However I suspect , in the words of Ms Diana Ross that
‘I’m still waiting’ will be the outcome…..

Call me cynical David, but one mans cynicism is anothers reality. The real answer is that you’re as bankrupt of ideas and answers as BK is of money. Bravo for trying though.

Roll on the end of another depressing transfer window.

  15. David O'Keefe says:

BD: Funny that you bring up John Henry because I don’t remember him waiting in the wings when the spirit of shankly were kicking up a fuss.

What your asking of BK critics is ludricous; should I have a solution in place when I point out a problem? Why not ask the board to find a solution, after all its their job.

  16. Lee, Huyton says:

David, even if you came up with a solution the ‘Bill knows best’ brigade would just dismiss it.

  17. Jimmy says:

What’s wrong with a share issue?

  19. billy says:

I’m willing to put 1000 squid in the pot/fund, if 30,000 (or more) other fans could do this what could be done with the money ??? As BD has stated its easy to criticize but not easy to find solutions.

  20. Bill Kenwrong says:

billy, we already put our money into that ‘pot/fund’ now ask what has BEEN/ BEING done with that money? Sometimes you just can’t see the wood for the trees…

  21. billy says:

how many actually put into the pot and how much was raised, any idea, BK

  22. Bill Kenwrong says:

According to all media sources, promotion to the Premier League is worth £100m. Where is that? According to other sources attendances are worth £20m. So there you are billy. Do the maths and get back to me…

  23. BD says:

    ————————————-

David – don’t be a fool, obtuse one at that. You’re bringing the problem into the spotlight. Have an answer or risk being called out (as you are now) on your ignorance. We can all complain – solutions are what’s needed. So c’mon – give us all the answer – after all you’re so clued up it appears……

The club is in a mess – tell us something we DON’T know ; like a solution other than just booting out the board. Do you have a buyer? Do you have a sustainable plan this board (or any)could follow?
In other words (for you AND Elstone)

“All we har is radio gaa gaa
    radio goo goo
    radio gaa gaa
All we hear is radio gaa gaa
    Radio blah-blah….”

Don’t try and come back with some witty answer – you’ve tried already and failed. Just give us the asnwer you obviously must have.
