76% believe Arteta didn’t want to go
The Prince of Spin at Goodison will be disappointed to discover that 76% of the readership of SOS1878 believe that Mikel Arteta didn’t want to leave Everton for Arsenal.
It would appear that the reasons given by the club for Arteta’s departure have not washed with a certain section of the online fanbase at least.
The Liverpool Echo reported Everton’s ‘ANGER’ at the Spaniard’s exit on September 1st and yet failed to convey this alleged anger.
A club so angry that Arteta was in fact allowed to conclude his move away from Everton at the club’s 119 year old stadium.
The SOS poll has thus far attracted 1266 votes and the question is a pretty simple one:
Do you believe Mikel Arteta really wanted to leave Everton?

Judging by the picture of him above he looks pretty happy to me.
He has always wanted european football and was willing to take a drop in salary something he admitted himself, let’s not start any stupid rumours as i’m sure arteta would have been the first to start complaining about the move, he was happy at everton because of his salary something he got because he put in a transfer. it was not too long ago he said that he wanted to return home to spain because he missed his family, strange the increase in his salary to £75,000 a week stopped him returning home to the country he loved
‘Yes, but what about the other 48 percent?’
…asked Everton’s chief accountant.
This website is absolutely unbelievable. Stunningly ridiculous.
Did we not land on the moon either? Were the twin towers destroyed by the american government? Are we currently being monitored by an alien civilization?
Of course the majority of your readers believe this ridiculous suggestion. Because these readers, like the authors of these ridiculous ‘articles’, find the suggestion of something sinister and conspiracy-based more appealing than the truth.
The man wanted to leave, end of. And good luck to him.

Spot on Scouser. People seem to ignore what the guy actually said and willingness to take a drop in money to get the move. Too many are taken in by badge kissing and incantations of always being a blue. In the end they are all mercenaries but hey don’t let this get in the way of a good bit preconception.
I’m not all that bothered about Arteta leaving to be honest, he’d gone a bit stale of late, and we’ve only seen flashes of the skill that we were accustomed too. What did piss me off, was the timing of his transfer request. He knew Arsenal were interested days before,so why not hand one in then, and give us time to get a replacement. I still love the guy though.
PHIL:
You are dupe man! Yes, the article is shit, but don’t start comparing all things football with the issues stated above(!)
The Arsenal, and all sports for that matter, is a welcoming distraction from whats really going on in this world we all live in.
Is the American Government corrupt? BET YOUR ASS IT IS!
Twin Towers, Aliens, Illuminati…. it’s all true man. It is no longer possible to keep it hidden. Read something on this subject, you apparently haven’t.
Poor sod living in a dream illusion, believing in the controlling media as it feeds people with straight forward LIES!
But hey(!) Who cares right?
Go gunners
Couldnt agree with you more PabloBrown. His head was definitely turned by Arsenal’s interest but his timing could not have been worse. Maybe the reason for the timing was for us not to be able to spend any of the money.
If he plays for Arsenal like he did in the middle last year for us, they may be asking for a refund by Christmas.
Congratulations Phil, your post was the most retarded thing I have read this year. If you had a brain, you would understand why!
Wow! 76% of the 1266 “votes”. Let’s see…. if each of the self aggrandising / living in a “Tofeewebesque” souls who frequent this website do their normal trick and sit “voting” for as long as their mouse fingers hold out…. that means maybe 50 sad people.. 30% of those who went to “The Casy” on Saturday, tried to “whip up a storm”. Great headlines for the Redtop Press and the “Big Five” Sky accolites to beat us up with, and make the likelyhood of a sale a bit more remote. Well done again, kn**h**ds
yes its all a big conspiracy, aliens are not only out there, but they are living and breathing amongst us… mostly on this site….
Cheers Tones.
I’ve always wanted to achieve that kind of ridiculousness.
Tet will be getting a good clap from me when he comes back.
And a few sing songs in the Drayton when we’re down there.
And will people stop going on how shite our situation is. We’re okay, chill, have a coke and a smile.
Drinks are on me.
really does it it matter was he happy or not.. he was on way way to much money for his quite poor displays an we got 10 mill on his arse well worth the money i think an we let pienaar go cos we wouldnt give him the extra id rather teta went n pienaar stayed.. POOR DISSISION by moyes he let the beeter player go hes a gr8 manager but does sum stupid things .. lets face it arteta has been shite for easily 2 years ( fact )
Can we have another poll please?
“Do you believe that you would do a better job at running the club than Bill?”
And can you ask Mike Ashley, Sullivan and Gold, Yeung, Mandaric (and the various other owners of Portsmouth), Statler and Waldorf, some bloke in a bedsit in Manchester, if they think they could do a better job?
In fact while you’re at it, you can ask Usmanov and Kroenke if they think they can do a better job as Arsenal have won fuck all over the last five or six years as well.
In fact the only clubs that look like they are going to challenge Man U are Chelsea and City – and they have Billionaire owners who can fund their clubs for fun.
What good will swapping chairs in the boardroom do without major (and I mean major, not a hundred million, but a billion) investment in the club.
You can blame Bill for not getting us a new stadium, but without a serious investment there is no way we are going to get one.
SOS … You have the right to be as cynical and negative as you want about Everton but it won’t get our club anywhere. You’ve managed to attract a minority of like minded people so it’s no surprise 76% have this view. I’m sick of the negativity so I’m out of here … You’ve just lost a regular site visitor.
‘king hell! The SOS / Toffeeweb “30″ must have been asleep the last few hours. Haven’t noticed all the posts. Haven’t yet launched their self deluded counter attack that everyone who has posted is in fact Ian Ross….
Seeing Mikky in red. Truely awful.
the bigger question is who cares ? he had passed his sell-by-date 2 years ago and because of fan pressure Arsenal again paid top dolla for another one of our duds 1st they got the fox in the box who turned out to be the big eared kid everyone hates now they got the crab in a basket
98% of NSNO readers believe kenwright was the 2nd gunman on the grassy knoll!!!!
How deluded can you be? Of course he wanted to go – grow up for goodness sake.
Oh and nurse, Leon needs his medication again.
If he didn’t want to go, then he would have stayed. Simple as that
I’m secretly delighted with some of the comments on here. I was under the incorrect assumption that most of the realists voices weren’t as loud as the revolutionary ones.
Lets just hope that some of the realist voices penetrate the media, because right now with the media buying the “Everton fans are at ends with the club”, the club is looking like a bit of a shambles. And it’s not. We look embarrassing. And we’re not.
Of course change is needed – I think that every single Evertonian believes this, including the chairman and board. But to quote David Hayers from Alan Partridge, evolution not revolution is the key. Forcing the board out will do nothing for the stability of the club. The board will change, as will the chairman.
And if the revolutionists are successful, and the club completely disintegrates, SOS1878 will have the comfort to lay the blame fully at the current chairman and board, and publish their inbred, antagonistic and deluded stories. Well done.
Well considering he handed in a transfer request I’m guessing yes ….??
Stavros – here’s a link to an article on the moon landings – read the comments at the bottom – you’ll be amazed at some of the things the conspiracy theorists are making up and stating as fact….

76% are clearly a little more than deluded ! Of course he wanted to go. His mind hasn’t been on his game for a long time.
