Elstone was appointed as the club’s permanent Chief Executive Officer in January 2009 but has overseen a number of failures that have led to many Blues questioning his capabilities.
The petition, started by season ticket holder Mark Jones, asserts that Mr Elstone has ‘demonstrated beyond any doubt that he is completely out of touch with the supporters of the club he represents’
Jones also pointed to Elstone’s background as an accountant which ‘leaves him completely wanting in areas such as business acumen and commercial nous’
The campaign began this morning on Twitter following on from Elstone’s admission yesterday that he didn’t follow orders from club chairman Bill Kenwright with regards to fan consultation on the new badge.
The petition was published little over an hour ago and has already been signed by more than 135 Everton supporters. The @ElstoneOut Twitter account was launched around the same time and has chalked up more than 250 ‘followers’.
