Disgusting Mirror article compares Evertonians to racists
An article has appeared on The Mirror online site by David Maddock; it is an article which every right minded Evertonian will find scandalous.
Unbelievably the article, which aligns illegal racist behaviour with peaceful legitimate protest and also disgracefully contemplates what the recently deceased Gary Ablett would have thought of the actions of the matchgoing Evertonians. The article concludes with a further fabrication suggesting other Evertonians shouted down those people questioning the chairman who is unable to give a believable answer.
Rest assured we shall be taking this matter much further. We have already sent an email, below, requesting that the article is taken down and we shall be pressing for a full apology including the name of the person at Everton who gave Mr Maddock the background information to this disgusting article. In fact we already know, an equally disgusted national journalist has informed The Blue Union who has done this.
We would encourage all Evertonians to make representations to The Mirror online editor Ben Rankin at ben.rankin@mirror.co.uk regarding this article which you can read here.
URGENT ACTION REQUIRED
I’m writing to you with regard to today’s online article by your writer David Maddock titled “Gary Ablett united Liverpool and Everton fans, but what would he have made of the abuse aimed at Adeyemi and Kenwright?”
How dare you align a racist incident with the legitimate concerns of matchgoing Evertonians in this online article.
The people protesting certainly didn’t abuse Mr Kenwright, as can be seen on the video, they merely questioned him; in fact the overwhelming consensus amongst fans has been how polite the protestors were considering the actions Bill Kenwright has taken over his tenure at Goodison.
The article, like others on Bill Kenwright by Mr Maddock, is written from an incredibly ignorant standpoint and we will be addressing this at a further point in time.
However what I want to address immediately are the aforementioned association with racist behaviour, the claim that Mr Kenwright was abused and finally the downright barefaced lie in this claim:
“And a group of fans, witnessing the abuse aimed at Bill Kenwright, turned on those aiming it, and offered an even louder voice, condemning their actions.”
No such action took place and I’m asking you to take down this article immediately as you will be receiving a more considered response, asking for an apology to be issued prior to contacting the PCC, after the officers of the Blue Union return from Everton’s game tonight at White Hart Lane.

Shocking.. what more can be said. Hope the mirror responds as they should. COYB
To link the two incidents is grossly unfair , and perhaps to somehow make less of the more serious racist comment ,this journalist should hang his head and apologise to the Everton fans as they were far from abusive .
That’s why I don’t read the mirror.
I have emailed Mr.Rankin demanding he give everton supporters the same integrity and concern that is given to our colleagues at LFC and re dress the balance. Do not go down the ‘Sun’ route of lies and please tell the truth.
Why do they always try and tar us with the same brush as them. Disgusting. We payed the price for them once with a European ban.
Adyemi has nothing to do with the Kenwright issue. I stopped buying the Daily Mirror as it is heavy Liverpool biased. The recent “You`ll never walk alone” back page headline with regard to the Suarez incident is just one example ,that aside Brian Reade on his own is enough for any blue to give the paper the swerve.
