Gosling walks out on Blues – reports
Newspaper reports are today suggesting that the FA has ruled against Everton in the Dan Gosling contract dispute and the player has decided to enforce his right to freedom of movement at the end of his current deal and has walked out on the Blues.
The Daily Mirror correspondent Alan Nixon reports that, despite Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright making various ‘verbal’ offers and promises to the player, a rookie oversight in failing to put anything to the player or his representatives in writing has seen the club lose out on several million pounds worth of transferable asset.
With the player having cost in the region of £1.5m from Plymouth Argyle initially, and recent reports suggesting much interest in his services, it is not unreasonable to suggest that this typically Everton gaffe has cost the club in the region of £5m.
At a time when the manager is desperate for every penny he can get, questions must surely once again be asked as to the competence of the senior management of the business side of Everton FC.
The reliable redtop goes on to suggest that Newcastle and Sunderland are ready to fight it out for the players signature.
Quite why Dan is so eager to get away is anyone’s guess. One thing is for sure though, this reflects very badly indeed on Everton FC.

Are you serious? He was playing for Everton, the first chance you get to leave Everton, you swipe it before that chance is gone! Hes a decent player so he wants to play for a bigger club with better grounds and more fans like Newcastle or Sunderland. No-brainer really.

I think it fair to say that nowadays Everton is the best club to be at for young talented players and if he would like to join newcastle or sunderland rather than wait for our contract offer then he is as much of a clown as ‘trader’

Unless he’s off to a ‘top 2′ club, any step away from a club of Everton’s history and magnitude is a step down. Newcastle will be the proverbial yo-yo club for the next 5 years just like West Brom. Cant see this being true, hes injured so would be taking a big risk on any club gambling on him & was at finch farm working on his fitness with Alan Stubbs the other day when my brother was playing their….if he was planning on leaving i dowt Moyes would have left one of our coaches behind to work with him..
& one more thing…why would the court rule at 5 in the morning that he could leave? i’m guessing there monre of a 9-5 place?…& why would the FA release the story at 5 in the mornin? I’ll believe it when it comes from a source with a decent reputation for reporting the truth (BBC, Sky Sports). Until then I’ll rest assured that his contract still has a year on it as it says on this website

It astonishes me how a farce of a club like Newcastle United can be promoted back to the Premier League after a year in the Championship and then even begin to mock established clubs such as Everton.You guys certainly have an over-inflateds opinion of yourselves and have next to no knowledge of football history and tradition. If you did, you would realise that Everton are the fourth most successful club in England, and Newcastle are no where to be seen.
It is indeed the case that Everton are less successful than the other club in our city, Liverpool, who are by the way the most successful club in England.Newcastle is a one club city and the only competition you have is from small clubs located on industrial wastelands, such as Boro and Sunderland.(Incidently, Sunderland are at the minute a greater club than you lot)

Reading that link – Goslings contract runs out end 2009 / 2010 season i.e. 30 June 2010. Even in that article he had not signed the extension. Mind you, there is no word yetfrom Gosling and we all know how reliable the Mirror is !!

the best way to tell how big a club is, is to go abroad and see whos shirts there selling.
Ive been to 7 countrys in 3 years. Last one was USA New York and the only shirts i could see was Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man C plus the odd Tottenham, West Ham, Portsmouth and Newcastle. I did see 1 Everton shirt but it was on a tourist. (sound guy tho).
