Oh come on, can’t you see he was having a joke at Jermaine Beckford, where’s your sense of humour. There’s no story here.

Put the phrase into context with the rest of the speech (predominately after these words) and it really isn’t a dig at you guys… relax and see the funny side…

He wasn’t having ‘a joke’. He is an ignorant, classless human being who was trying his best to belittle one of the greatest clubs in British football, perhaps throwing his dummy out of the pram when we signed a youngster from them, sour grapes? I think so. When he calls us a ‘two-bit club’, he might want to focus on his own supporters who stormed onto the pitch to celebrate finishing 2nd in League One, or if you’re old enough (which I doubt), the Third Division.

Sadly, the bigger clubb (EFC) will always look to the minnows for talent. If Beckford comes to Everton it will give him the chance to show if he can play at that level rather than the mediocrity of the third division.

I hope nobody is really wound up by this old cranks words, this is just how he is. Nobody in football really has a good word for him and his opinion is worth less than mine – I know that sounds a bit odd as most of you know how highly mine is valued around the various Everton sites, i’m sure you take my point though.
Good luck to Leeds, they are a well supported club and Elland Road is still one of the ‘proper’ football grounds and I hope to see them back in our league in the years to come.
As for Spurs being more successful than Everton, just lol.

Bates was pissed up and having a joke … more at Beckfords agents expense than anyone else. He would have cracked the same joke were Beckford tipped to go to Scum, Chelski or Real Madrid.
Regarding the pitch invasion … where’s the problem? As you know, 3 seasons of sobering up in Division 3 … why wouldn’t any group of fans from any football club in the world want to celebrate a turn around of mismanagement, poor form and bad luck?

Im sure Beckford, at 26 and not exactly at the start of his career, has laughed this off and will be looking forward to playing in the best league in the world next year, whoever he chooses to sign for

He was drunk making a joke at Jermaine Beckford, the fact he mentioned Everton is irrelvant, he doesn’t really think they are a two bob club, it just fitted in with his jibe at Beckford. We all know although your the 4th most successful team you are also a boring one, all the years in the top tier and what you got to show for it, a boring no ambitions club like everyone or a fantastically supported ambitious club such as leeds who may not be the “4th” most successful club but have more ambition and more about them than a second rate team from liverpool.
