Mikel signs, as first revealed by SOS1878 in May
As first reported on SOS1878, Mikel Arteta has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new five-year deal.
Almost THREE months ago, on May 13th (Mikel to sign new deal), we revealed that Arteta was set to sign a new five-year deal with the Blues.
In the intervening weeks and months several people, perhaps understandably, posted doubting the validity of our sources despite our near perfect track record. We are delighted that Arteta has finally penned his new deal and ask for patience and trust from certain sections of our readership in the future!!
Upon signing the contract, Arteta caught up with evertonfc.com.
He said: “What this summer has made me realise is how important I am to the Club and how important the Club is to me. The Chairman and the manager wanted me to stay 120 per cent and that makes me feel proud. We are all seeing the Club and the future in the same way and that is special – something that you don’t always find.
“I believe in this squad. We have got a very strong squad now and it is getting difficult to pick an 11 because of the players we have. Something is happening here and I want to be a part of it.”

I’m absolutely made up.
I think there was some doubt that developed along the line but i’ve never been more relieved to see a player put pen to paper.

This was the big one for me. We’re going to get the best years of Mikel Arteta; one of the finest to ever wear the jersey in my opinion.

Brian, we expect he will sign too. It has never been certain, as we were told with Mikel…but the we expect he will commit also, albeti after holding us to ransom, the ungrateful little twat!!
