Moyes heaps praise on “exemplary” Neville
David Moyes has praised his captain Phil Neville after the former Manchester United man surpassed 200 appearances in the blue of Everton.
Signed for £3.5 million pounds in the summer of 2005, Neville has managed to immerse himself into the Evertonian culture and win over a lot of sceptics.
And Moyes had nothing but respect for the impact Bury born Phil has enjoyed since arriving.
He said: “When he came from Manchester United a lot of people may have seen it as a step down but Phil himself saw it as a step up. He’s been exemplary as a professional and as a player.
“He’s got a winning mentality and he’s brought leadership.
“He has clearly come from a club where if you win it’s good but the next game is the most important and the way Phil prepares himself for every match is a credit to himself and that’s why he’s had such a good career and won so many international caps.
“He wants to take responsibility on the pitch, he plays each game as if it’s his last and the way he goes about his business is a great example for our younger players.”
