SOS Sources: Mikel to sign new 5 year deal

Sources close to SOS are indicating that Mikel Arteta will end all speculation about his immediate future and sign a new 5 year deal with the Blues until 2015.

Returning to action in January in the unforgivable FA Cup surrender against Birmingham, the Spanish matador has been a ray of light in what has proved a hugely disappointing campaign.

The season finished less than a week ago, but already the media have already linked him with Arsenal; while as we revealed less than two weeks ago, Manchester City were preparing to make a move. Arteta, though, will prove what an honest, stand up, loyal man he is when he practically signs on for life at Goodison Park.

Jack Rodwell, meanwhile, is also closing in on a new five year contract. His wages are expected to rise to £25,000 per week. Now all we need is a Steven Pienaar extension…

    Please let this be true!

If any of the three were to go Id choose Pienaar, I think hes more replaceable than Arteta and Rodwell

Mikel has had this speculation every year since he signed for us , speaks volumes that he’s still here , I’d be astonished if he moved away this summer

  3. Lee says:

Great news if true.Efc 92 I disagree Rodwell isn’t a main part of our team yet and while he looks like he’s got enormous potential he isn’t as important as pienaar just yet.I hope pienaar can get tied down to a new contract he is such an important player for us.

  4. EFC92 says:

Hmm, Well I think losing Rodwell would be a bigger blow for our team of the future. Btw, I love the way so many people have for us to challange for the title next season, if we play like we did in the second half of this season though and kept hold of leads in games.. why not? :)

Yeah I agree mate we played great football in the 2nd half of last season.can’t wait for next season

  7. Paul Daly says:

I’d sooner lose Pienaar than Rodwell to be honest.

This kid is going to be something special.

    Great news on Mikel.

If Mikel signs this deal he is a bona fide Everton legend, the greatest player of his generation to pull on the Royal Blue shirt.

Ferguson is my hero, Rooney was a worldclass player, Kanchelskis was a one season phenomenon….

If Mikky signs up though, he blitzs them all and proves conclusively that there really is nobody better than Mikel Arteta, as a player, as a role model or as a man.

  9. Blue says:

As Mikel and Tim Cahill are best mates, i believe if one signs, as Cahill is about too, the other will. Cahill says he wants to have a couple of years in Oz before he hangs up his boots, rumour is Mikey will join him.

Ye Blue, hopefully when theyre both in their mid to late 30′s :

Anyway werent it only January this year that Arteta said he wants to stay till the end of his career?

Let’s hope mikel sticks to his word.follow follow follow

I am happy to announce Mikel will not be taking the option of extending his contract he has expressed his wishes to return to spain. we (the club) offered Mikel a generous deal including food coupons for top stores such as aldi lidel netto ect
the funds from the sale of Mikel sadly will not be released as they have already been tied up with my new show (Sissyboy)
tickets available from most box office venues in London.
