Tings: Getting so close was a sh*t feeling
John Heitinga revealed all in his first interview since his World Cup heartache, explaining it was a “shit” feeling getting so close but ultimately failing to beat Spain in the final.
Speaking with EvertonTV, Tings was blunt in his assertions.
He said: “If you are so close to winning the final and to win the World Cup it’s a shit feeling when you lose and you see Spain going up to get the cup.
“The first thing I thought when I went up to get the medal was that I don’t want it. But no, I am proud of it.”
Heitinga won’t feature in tomorrow’s final pre-season clash with Wolfsburg, but insists he will be fully fit and raring to go for the opening day clash at Ewood Park.
He continued: “I will be fit and ready for the Blackburn game. I’m back now and I’ve done double sessions. I played seven games in one month at the World Cup so you don’t lose too much fitness in three weeks.
The Gwladys Street hero believes a big season is in store for the Blues, and explained he is excited with the squad’s prospects. He also went on to explain which positions he feels he operates best in.
“I hope it’s going to be a big season for us, because our squad is strong. I hope we can win a title this year. You have to fight for your position and only the best player can play. I have to fight and show I am the best player in my position. There are two positions for me. It is always as a central defender or as a defending midfield player.”

John Heitinga – The man who cannot be censored.
Chin up lad, you’re fucking outstanding.
Why do you call him Tings? Its equally as juvenile as the bellends who call pienaar peanuts. Grow up and become and adults website, not a site for lids and idiots.
well, no wallop, it’s not the same at all is it?? ‘Tings or ‘Tinga, seems to me like a perfectly straightforward ‘nickname’, through abbreviation, for the player.
‘Peanuts’ is just a completely different word, and I agree, a fucking stupid one. Like ‘spud’, ‘our tater’, ‘blue bill’ etc.
If I agreed with you, we wouldn’t call him it.
I don’t though, so you can like it, or lump it!!!
‘Tings is here to stay.
Swearing on Everton TV!? How fucking dare he!?
