QPR take out the garbage at Goodison
Before Everton’s first home game of the new Premier League season, the crisis engulfing the football club was firmly off the pitch. After yesterday’s shameful performance, there is little doubt that crisis has now extended on to the pitch too.
Any sense of optimism among Evertonians that a new season brings was spectacularly punctured by Tommy Smith after 31 minutes.
QPR were comfortable and convincing winners – far too comfortable in fact. Everton’s forays forward were unimaginative and pedestrian all afternoon.
Neil Warnock’s men were well organised, worked harder, fought harder and simply played better . They got their lead and weathered the ‘storm’ with relative ease. Fair play to them.
When Shaun Derry is made to look like Claude Makelele, it’s clear you have major problems.
David Moyes will point, as always, to the missed chances and overlook his archaic footballing philosophies and his infuriating loyalty to Tim Cahill.
Sadly though, no amount of excuses will lift the overwhelming mood of despair.
Spirit – the quality that has carried Everton through nine years of Moyes management – appears to have evaporated. QPR didn’t just play better than their Blue counterparts yesterday, they wanted it more too. That, to me, is unforgivable.
With ten days to go before the window slams shut, Moyes simply has to work the market and trade in some of his £180m rated squad. Tragically, we all know that won’t happen and instead the glaring need for pace down the flanks and a striker will remain.
Apathy has spread among Evertonians for years like an all-pervading cancer but something has got to give. The current situation – off the pitch, primarily – is not acceptable and it is not sustainable.
Everton need a massive injection of inspiration from somewhere, before the expiring corpse that is Everton Football Club rots beyond all recognition.

We are in trouble this season from yesterday’s evidence.
Every shit cloud has a silver lining…Ross Barkley.
Looked at from the outside as a QPR fan, I know how you are feeling; we’ve been there ourselves
You have to look at what you have got..
Great manager, would be an asset to any club on Earth.
A squad really exceptional players, your bench yesterday was luxury in our eyes, the young kid looks a real find – wish we had one coming through the ranks
We rode our luck yesterday, this is not the real Everton
“Class, style, dignity” – you are, and you’ll always have that – whatever happens..
Your are like QPR in one, oh so important way
You are a ‘proper’ football club
Chin up, get behind the players, keep the faith; glass is more than half full
Ross barkley was the only positive thing yesterday, but we have to start thinking is it time to sell Cahill, Artetta and a few others of the old squad and bring up the young talent from the kids also with the mney recovered from thses players buy a striker who might stay on the pitch for the whole game and not be brought off by a frustrated manager who puts a defensive midfielder on in his place
Good on ya RoyBoy!
QPR convincing winners? WTF?? like roy boy says they rode their look a little. i fucking hate this site not bothering with it anymore
chris – did you see the game ?? How the fuck were we any good at all ? we were shite. Jags looks like he ate all teh pies, the fuckers could not string an accurate pass around, no nice touches (maybe 1 or 2 but thats it), yes we went forward when it was too late, but QPR, QP fucking R 9no disrespect meant), stood back, watched, smiled and tought “same old shite – no problem”.
Arteta – why the fuck – when Bainsey had his eye and range in, end up taking the corners and free kicks – shite = sell him.
Fellani – (fuck knows why, repacing Beckford), but…but, obviously not match fit and couldnt be arsed. Shite = sell him
Cahill – tries twice, fucks up twisce, rest of the time – arms out again “not me Gov” or “whers my foul” or or some fucking moan. Shite = sell him
Rodwell – just fucking shite = sell him
And thats me finished, because I am truley disguisted with most of the players and you dont even want me started on Moysey (who most days I love) nor the board, nor the fucking club in general.
PS Do they fucking do any training ie getting fit / team building / set pieces etc pre-season ?, that certainly did not show.
royboy,`great manager` asset to any club on earth?? yeah, if the worlds clubs are coveting tripe football!
I watched Bolton v City on telly I thought Mancini was as negative as Moyes but at defending corners he had 3 attackers on the half way line keeping 4 Bolton men back. Not like moyes 11men in area kick ball as far from goal as possible hope to break out and not have ball come back to soon. He’s definitely lost the plot with no imagination in his tactics. While he was good in his early years he seems to have reached a platue.Even Lambert at Norwich who normally plays a diamond shape changed his tactics for Stoke playing a flat 4 in middle to cut out their wingers.Moyes plays 4-5-1 no matter what and everybody says of promoted clubs the 2nd season will find them out well this is Moyes 10th and more and more are finding us out especially with our ageing players not being as fast or fit as in other seasons. This is going to be one traumatic season based on the performance of many on show against QPR.Only one game I know but do we have the means to stimulate the cash rich lazy bastards wearing the blue shirt now.Moyes and the players need a rocket but how can you give multi-millionaires a rocket if they don’t care.
History repeating itself (yet) again. No pride, no effort, no urgency, no discipline, NO RESPECT.
Of course, the usual words are uttered as a matter of routine, with Moyes now talking of Wednesday’s fixture in the Carling Cup (ironically against one of Warnock’s former sides) as a “springboard”.
“We were determined and desperate to make a good start but it did not happen, so now we will look to get going in the cup game and kick on from there,” said Moyes.
Blah, blah, blah…. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Somebody please wake me up in mid-January, at which point we will have inevitably squandered all opportunities of achieving anything from the season, but actually start to play some decent football.
Pass me that mug of cocoa.
Moyes is just fuck, fucking useless, fucking stupid and fucking at EFC – going down going down going down – to hell
Don’t blame the manager for that gutless performance some of his decisions are suspect at times but no offence to QPR the side Moyes put out should of got a result ..the team has gone stale too much into a comfort zone with no competition for places has now finally started to show some players need to be sold in jan and replaced with younger players starting with
Arteta Cahill Saha Neville maybe that sounds crazy but is there any other alternative
