Tottenham target Pienaar swoop

Sunday rag “The People” are reporting that Tottenham are set to make a bid for Everton’s wiry winger Steven Pienaar come the summer, with Chelsea waiting in the wings.

Pienaar, still to sign a new deal with the Blues, has little over 15 months left to run on his current contract as he heads into a World Cup in his home nation of South Africa.

At 28, reporter Alan Nixon reckons this could be Pienaar’s “last chance”.

He reports that Everton would want within the region of £10 million for the player’s services, although there is much hope, among Evertonians and no doubt club officials, that Pienaar will commit his long term future to Goodison Park.
