I don't like this "we will turn it around" though, we simply should not be in this position at all. To say we will get out of this is all very well but it leaves you thinking what would be possible if we got it right from the off, doesn't it? His tactics recently leave a lot to be desired and I am often left thinking he has learned from his mistakes only for him to go and do the same thing again. I have seriously lost faith in his ability to manage our great club.

Yep, hard to argue and I agree. But no one is perfect and at the moment Moyes is the best man for the job, we have these poor starts but then we have top 3 or 4 form so it make up for it, well it usually does. To finish 8th last year was a disgrace.

I don't think Moyes is the main problem though, kenwright is. We are falling behind because nearly every other team can go out and spend £20mil plus a year and we cannot. i know there is the argument about Moyes not being good when he has a lot to spend but his successes in the transfer market far outweight his poor buys

I think the reason we are appearing to dominate teams is because they are sitting back and letting us have the ball, with the knowledge that we struggle to create in that position. This is why lately we have been doing "better" against the bigger teams as they attack more and are more open.

Against teams like Wolves, etc, they sit deep and basically pick us off on the break.

Some good replies there Shaun.

I think one of moyes' biggest problems though is that he hasn't instilled a winning mentality in the team. Look how many big games we bottle or how nervous we get when holding a slender lead late in games. For all that ferguson has done for utd, the biggest thing is the menality of the players. That is why they get so many late goals, they just believe they will win every game.

I was a big moyes supporter before the season but this really was a make or break year for him and it's starting to look like he is losing the plot if you look at recent comments about beckham and beckford

I agree to an extent, Lisbon and chelsea semi-final come to mind (I dont think we bottled the cup final, Hibbert just got tore apart first half and then we struggled to break down a strong and resolute Chelsea side). But he is starting to turn this round, he kept hold of Arteta when Mikel could've easily left - Mikel must thing this club is moving in the right direction. Each year except for this summer (no money) he has tried to bring in quality players, and also players who have winning mentalities (Heitinga for example). Also I don't think we have thrown away many leads because of late goals, in fact its quite the opposite - the amount of times we have scored late goals over the years is staggering and shows a real togetherness that moyes has instilled. We literally never had a 90th minute winner under Smith but it must be nearly 20 under Moyes. Thats the sign of a team who do not give up and that is one thing you cannot bring Moyes into despute for, sometimes he does favour work rate over flair but he has also tried to blend the pair together; Pienaar, Baines, Donovan etc

I agree with some of your points but I feel he has taken us as far as he can. We need a winner who will have us playing football 'The Everton Way'

We need a fresh start and some new ideas. I think we have some decent players but Moyes can't get the best out of them. The strikers at our club look like they have never played football before and it's all down to the pathetic system they are asked to play in. Shake things up or fuck off — that's what I say.

We can't go through the rest of the season playing like a Sunday League side. It's suicide... all the managers in the Premier League have got Moyes in their pockets. Who the fuck IS Steve Round by the way? Why does he deserve to be pulling the strings at Everton? The pair of them are the worst double act since Mike and Bernie Winters.

I don't buy all this blaming Kenwright alone. Yes, our lack of funds is a serious issue but I see no evidence to suggest that with lots of money Moyes would buy a team of winners and get them playing like winners.

He'd buy a load of versatile central midfielders with no personality and have them grind out home draws.

Moyes has built a side here that is a far cry of what Walter Smith was serving up 10 years ago. Last season from January onwards when our top players came back form injury and into form we played some brillliant stuff and trounced quite a few teams, we are now going through a transistion period from a team who nicks 1-0's to a team who looks to dominate teams, there is alwats going to be a period where we struggle. Yes, I feel Moyes should take some of the blamebut at the end of the day if your 75k a week superstar is constantly giving the ball away and your once unbeatable defender is being made to look like Titus Bramble, what can you do?

I'm not saying Moyesis entitled to a bad season, but he is entitled to see tihs one out imo and start the next season, see if he can shift the likes of Bily and Heitinga and bring some pace into the side. If we are in this position this time next year then ye, he should leave

without trying to sound like toffeblue we are 5 points off europe, this season is much tighter than it was last year. I am not trying to accept mediocrity and I know our motto et etc, but at the same time you have to be realistic and see what Moyes has taken us from. I know the traditions and history of this club, I was in Rotterdam for fuck sake. But those cunts across the park had to ruin it and we paid the biggest price of all, we almost hit rock bottom if it wasn't for a certain Gareth Farrelly. Moyes has given us our pride back, yes there are arguments that he might be taking it away again but I feel he still is the right man for the moment

so if he can shift the player he purchased and paid over the odds for in terms of wages and transfer fee, and do something he has rarely done before and sign some pace.

what are you on?

we are talking about david moyes here.

Hardly a surprise is it? The teams in the top 5 are in a different league to us and anyone who thinks otherwise is clueless. Even the cunts from across the park are better than us.

Anything over 7th would be a massive achievement.

My statement was in relation to Shaun-efc's post above saying we are only 5 points from Europe, when we're not.

He's had nine years. We've had some great moments but the Lescott moment was his 'watershed' moment.

We looked like a small club (which I guess we are in certain ways these days) and we then squandered the money.
