Tim Howard

Despite what some absolute nicompoop's would have you believe, TH is one of the VERY best goakeepers in this country, ergo the world.
His handling and command of his area are absolutely superb, he makes a seemingly unappreciated number of match defining saves and his ability to 'manage' his defence is second to none IMO.
On top of his ability as a goalkeeper though, what an absolutely fantastic guy he is too. Every interview I have ever seen with him, he simply oozes class, dignity, respect and intelligence.
In an age when a lot of footballers are false idols, men of ill-morals, men who are only in it for the dollar...I can't help but feel an enormous sense of pride when I see Tim Howard in an Everton shirt.
Tim represents all that is still good about football and I think we should all feel proud and priveleged to have him here. A consumate professional, a brilliant footballer and a damn decent bloke.
Tim Howard, I salute you. A man truly worthy of his status as an 'idol' and role model.

Probably our most underrated in my opinion, doesn't get the credit he deserves.

I've always rated him, quality Goalkeeper.

I think that depends on who you speak to, he does seem underrated by some but I also know alot of people (Evertonians and non-Evertonians) who easily rate him top 5 in the Prem, probably top 3.

an absolutely superb performance from him and that was an absolutely top draw save, instant reactions like i have never seen. Made sure we got the 3 points instead of 1...or maybe even worse!

i didnt have time in work to start a seperate thread...but did leave a comment about his shouldered save in particular in the match thread.

Twats on telly kept saying he didn't do it deliberately, the ball just hit him. And that he would surely claim he dropped a shoulder to keep it out.
Well, he did drop a fucking shoulder, you didn't even have to wait for the replay to see it clearly.
(On the other hand they praised him for his wonder save in the first half, when all he did was "just" stand in the right place and the ball really just hit him.)

He suffers from the modern goalie syndrome. Decent at shot stopping but doesnt command his area good enough for me. He is also inconsistent, normally in the same game in that he can be brilliant 1 second and then make a silly error on the next opposition attack.
Perhaps i am being a little too critical on him having being brought up watching the Master Bin Man at work but the modern goalies just dont do it for me

Well, its true that standards in general are lower but you do have to make account of this fucking 10 bob swerver ball they use!!
The days of Peter Schmeichel, who would literally OWN his area have gone, the ball deviates too much for them to have that certainty.
There is that slight question over him on long shots but, for me, when you weigh it all up he is still right up there.
Hardly any keepers come for crosses anymore, look at the league table yourself and try to pick them...you'll be shocked!
In modern terms I think he commands his box maybe better than anyone if im honest, only David James does more IMO and we all know how error prone he has been.
